BEGINNER NOVICE OBEDIENCE
"Beginner Novice Obedience" at K-9 is a prep class for competition at AKC trials. AKC Beginner Novice is an Optional Titling class meaning it is not a required title to advance in obedience. As such, AKC Beginner Novice is useful as a first step in obedience competitions for the dogs (and handlers) new to competitive obedience. "Beginner Novice Obedience" at K-9 instructs handlers on the 5 required exercises, ring protocol, correct handling skills, and training strategies that encourage enthusiasm and success.
Prerequisites to enroll for "Beginner Novice Obedience" are:
Handlers have taken Basic Skills in Obedience class or have competed in AKC trials.
Dog walks on leash at heel on handler's left side .
Dog sits at heel on command.
Dog will sit & stay on command when handler is at least 6' in front of dog with dog on leash.
Dog will come to handler from at least 10' away when called by name.
Dog will allow someone (other than the handler) to pet her head.
